Field Notes is a series of photographs that features human shadows merged with cameras and recording devices in U.S. National Parks, sourced from Google Maps. Google’s AI automatically erased people from the images, leaving only distorted shadows fused with technology. The cyborg-like simplicity of these shadows contrasts with the complex motivations behind our relentless documentation: seeking connection, preserving memory, affirming existence, and confronting mortality.
