Field Notes, 2021-

Field Notes is a series of photographs that depict shadows of human bodies fused with cameras and other recording devices. These images are extracted from Google Maps, whose AI automatically removes the physical body from uploaded photos, leaving behind only the distorted shadow of the photographer on the ground. Caught between the physical and the digital, the resulting beings evidence a bridge between these realms. Their existence holds questions about the impact of technology on our bodies, identities, and perceptions of the world around us.
